AVIDR Terms of Use (End User Licence Agreement)
Effective date: 20 October 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and the developer of AVIDR (“we”, “us”) about the AVIDR app. By using AVIDR you agree to them.
1. Your licence to use AVIDR
We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use AVIDR on Apple devices that you own or control, as allowed by the Usage Rules in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions. You may not:
- copy, modify, reverse-engineer or resell the app, except as the law allows;
- remove notices from it.
2. Your books and content
Your files. You import your own files into AVIDR. You are responsible for having the right to read, store and listen to them. AVIDR doesn’t provide or sell books.
What you create. Your highlights, notes and other content remain yours. We use them only to run the features you choose, such as sync.
3. AVIDR Pro, subscriptions and the free tier
What’s free. AVIDR is free to use, with:
- your first book in full;
- the first chapter of every later book in a studio voice;
- the iPhone voice for every page.
AVIDR Pro adds the features described in the app.
Buying Pro.
- Pro is sold as an auto-renewing subscription (yearly or monthly) or a one-time lifetime purchase, through Apple’s in-app purchase system.
- The price, the billing period and any free trial are shown before you buy.
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends.
- Your Apple account is charged within 24 hours before renewal.
Trials. A free trial turns into a paid subscription when it ends, unless you cancel during the trial. Any unused part of a free trial is lost once you buy a subscription.
Managing and refunds. You can manage or cancel a subscription in your Apple ID settings, or in AVIDR under Settings → AVIDR Pro. Apple handles refunds under its policies; you can ask from Settings → AVIDR Pro → Request a refund.
Prices. We may change prices. Apple will tell you before a change applies to your subscription, and will ask for your consent where required.
Lifetime. A lifetime purchase gives Pro for as long as we offer AVIDR on the App Store. It is not transferable between Apple accounts.
4. Voice downloads
The studio voices are downloaded to your device when first needed. They are licensed to us by their makers under the licences listed in Settings → Acknowledgements, and you may use them only inside AVIDR.
5. Rules for using the voices
The Supertonic voice is provided under the BigScience Open RAIL-M licence, which requires that everyone using it agrees to the following restrictions. These are binding terms of this agreement.
You agree not to use AVIDR’s voices, or audio they produce:
- in any way that violates any applicable national, federal, state, local or international law or regulation;
- for the purpose of exploiting, harming or attempting to exploit or harm minors in any way;
- to generate or disseminate verifiably false information or content with the purpose of harming others;
- to generate or disseminate personally identifiable information that can be used to harm an individual;
- to generate or disseminate information or content, and place it in any context, without expressly and intelligibly disclaiming that it is machine-generated;
- to defame, disparage or otherwise harass others;
- to impersonate or attempt to impersonate others (for example, deepfakes) without their consent;
- for fully automated decision-making that adversely impacts an individual’s legal rights, or otherwise creates or modifies a binding, enforceable obligation;
- for any use intended to have, or which has, the effect of discriminating against or harming individuals or groups based on online or offline social behaviour, or known or predicted personal or personality characteristics;
- to exploit any of the vulnerabilities of a specific group of persons based on their age or their social, physical or mental characteristics, in order to materially distort the behaviour of a person in that group in a manner that causes, or is likely to cause, that person or another person physical or psychological harm;
- for any use intended to have, or which has, the effect of discriminating against individuals or groups based on legally protected characteristics or categories;
- to provide medical advice or interpret medical results;
- to generate or disseminate information for use in the administration of justice, law enforcement, or immigration or asylum processes, such as predicting that an individual will commit fraud or a crime.
Sharing audio. If you share audio produced by AVIDR, make clear that it is machine-generated.
6. Acceptable use
Don’t:
- use AVIDR to break the law or infringe others’ rights;
- interfere with our servers, or try to access other users’ data;
- use sync or our servers to store or distribute content you have no right to.
7. Third-party services
AVIDR can work with services we don’t control. Their terms apply to your use of them:
- Apple (Translation, in-app purchase, Sign in with Apple);
- Google (Sign-In and Drive, if you connect them);
- RevenueCat (subscription management).
8. Privacy
How we handle your data is described in the Privacy Policy at https://avidr.app/privacy, which is part of these terms.
9. Changes and ending
Changes to AVIDR. We may change, suspend or stop any part of AVIDR. If we stop offering Pro features you’ve paid for, you may be entitled to a refund under Apple’s policies or the law.
Ending this agreement. You can end it at any time by deleting the app and your account. We may suspend your account if you seriously break these terms.
10. Disclaimers and liability
AVIDR is provided “as is”. To the extent the law allows, we don’t guarantee that it will be error-free or uninterrupted, or that a voice will pronounce every word correctly. Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or your rights as a consumer.
11. Law
These terms are governed by the laws of Ukraine, without affecting the mandatory consumer protections of the country where you live. You may bring a claim in the courts of your own country where the law allows it.
12. Apple terms
These terms are between you and us, not Apple. In addition:
- Responsibility. We, not Apple, are responsible for AVIDR and its content.
- Maintenance. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for AVIDR.
- Warranty. If AVIDR fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price for AVIDR, if any. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation for AVIDR.
- Claims. Apple is not responsible for addressing any
claims by you or any third party relating to AVIDR or your use of it,
including:
- product liability claims;
- any claim that AVIDR fails to conform to any applicable legal or regulatory requirement;
- claims under consumer protection, privacy or similar legislation.
- Intellectual property. If a third party claims that AVIDR or your use of it infringes their intellectual property rights, we, not Apple, are responsible for investigating, defending, settling and discharging that claim.
- Your declaration. You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo, or designated as a “terrorist supporting” country, and that you are not listed on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- Third-party terms. You must comply with applicable third-party terms when using AVIDR.
- Third-party beneficiary. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms, and Apple may enforce them against you.
